Import your first source

Use this guide when you are ready to add your first records to a Proof Me Hard library.

Choose the source path

Proof Me Hard can only import records that exist in an authorized source. It cannot create messages, attachments, or metadata that the backup or export did not preserve.

  1. 1 Identify whether your source is a local backup, Mac Messages data, Capture package, cloud restore, or official platform export.
  2. 2 Keep the original source file or folder in place until import finishes.
  3. 3 Unzip official exports when the provider delivers a compressed archive.

Run the first import

Large sources can take time. Keep the desktop app open and avoid moving the source files while import is running.

  1. 1 Open Proof Me Hard on the computer that can access the source.
  2. 2 Choose the matching import path.
  3. 3 Grant any required desktop permissions.
  4. 4 Review the imported records before deleting or moving the original source.
