WhatsApp export import problem

Confirm the export is complete

Proof Me Hard can only import what the WhatsApp export contains. If WhatsApp omits media, timestamps, participants, or messages from the export, Proof Me Hard cannot recreate them.

  1. 1 Keep the original export archive until import is complete.
  2. 2 If the export arrived as a compressed archive, unzip it before importing unless the app asks for the archive directly.
  3. 3 Confirm the exported text and media files stayed in the same relative folder structure.
  4. 4 Avoid renaming files inside the export folder before import.

Account for provider changes

Messaging apps can change export formats without notice. A WhatsApp update can temporarily change how messages, attachments, reactions, edits, or timestamps appear in an export.

  2. 2 Retry with a fresh export if the original export is old or incomplete.
  3. 3 Send support the WhatsApp version, export date, operating system, and exact import error if parsing still fails.
